We want to help you prepare to love others well, so here’s a few helpful guidelines to help lead you to a great volunteer experience. Please read through it and let us know if you have any questions. volunteer@lknstrong.org.

1. Be Respectful of Others

Please respect the privacy of your recipient. When you make contact with your recipient, introduce yourself and share whatever information might be helpful. Be mindful of their needs and always communicate with a healthy dose of love and respect.

2. Do the task to the best of your ability and in a timely manner

Once you accept a task the recipient receives a message that its been assigned and gives them your name. Please plan to reach out to them shortly after you accept the task to make arrangements or learn more about the task. No one else can accept the task once you have so please make sure you do it to the best of your ability.
If you have accepted a task but then are unable to do it, please reach out to the recipient and kindly let them know another volunteer would be taking over. Once that is done, simply contact us for reassignment of the task and it will be placed back in que.

3. Be Mindful of What’s Being Requested

When you connect with your recipient, be sure to get clear direction on what they need. The better you understand their needs going in, the more comfortable and safe you will be.
If, at any time, you do not feel safe or comfortable meeting a need, simply contact us for reassignment of the task and it will be placed back in que.
A Note on Grocery Pick Up: When the task is submitted, the recipient is asked to choose whether the pick up is prepaid or if it needs to be paid for when picked up. The recipients agree to have cash or check available when the dropoff is made, but it will be your responsibility to collect. If you are unable to pay for the groceries upfront, please do not accept tasks that have that need.

4. Connect With Your Recipient

The goal of LKN Strong isn’t just to check items or needs off a list, but rather to help our community grow STRONGER TOGETHER! Get to know your recipient and learn how you can serve them best!
